Story nr.1
It was in summer 1942. I lived with my family in a small village in Sudeten near the Polish border. I was 9 years old and my sister was four years younger than me. There were my two cousins during the summer too because of a lack of food in big cities. Petr was 8 and Marie was 5.
One morning our mum said: "You will go to the forest to pick blueberries for a cake." We loved the forest because we could play great games there. We imagined we are solders with guns - sticks. Everyone got a jug and we had to fill it. It was quite a long way to the forest because of our two horrible young sisters who went so slowly. Finally we were in the forest and started to pick the berries. I had about half of my jug when I heard a noise. Someone was nearby and we could hear shooting. Than we saw a line of people looking for partisans. What should we do? Run or stay?.....

….We decided to run away. We left our jugs with berries and very quietly we started to go away on our knees. We were afraid we could be shot. We were walking from tree to a tree until we reached a rock. Then we thought we were safe enough to start running home. When we got home we told our parents what we had seen in the forest. Our parents warned the villager and they all managed to escape and avoid death. The village was burnt by German soldiers. The real end is here.

 Story nr.2
It was in spring 1945. I lived with my family in a small village in Sudeten near Polish border. I was 12 years old and my sister was four years younger than me. My dad was away from home. He had to work in a factory in Svitavy for the Germans. This town is 40 km away and he came back just for some weekends. Germans guided captured Russian soldiers through our village all day. These soldiers were tired and in a very bad condition.
It was an evening and we were sitting in our house after dinner when we heard knocking at the door. "Shall we open or not. Who can it be?", these were question in my head. My mum asked me not to open, she was scared. My sister started to cry. I decided to open the door and we saw....

... a German soldier. He told us we would be arrested and send to a work camp. We were frightened, we didn't know what to do. My mum started to packed some neccessary things and decided we have to escape. We escaped at the dawn to the forest. It was really cold at night, we were alone and my sister cried . My Mum made up her mind to come back because we didn't have enough food money and we didn't have anywhere to run away. When we were coming back we were caught by German and sent to a work camp. We were starving in the camp, the food was terrible, the living conditions were terrible. My Mum had to work very hard. Fortunately we survived.

 Story nr.3

It is year 1942. I am 6 years old, I go to an underground school. I live in Łomża suburb with my Mum and older sister. We were thrown away from our flat by Germans. My father is a member of Home Army (Polish army during WW2) and for the whole war he lives near Warsaw. My Mum works in a factory. She speaks German.
One afternoon I am coming back from school (my teacher’s flat). Suddenly I drop all my books from behind my coat. I don't have a school bag. All the books are on the pavement, I am starting picking them up, when I notice an esesman passing by. I know I can be punished for having Polish books, because it was forbidden in occupied Poland. My heart is beating very fast, I am stressed, I am afraid of German soldiers. The esesman is coming close to me and…

... he starts to shout at me: "You Polish bastard, what is it? Tell me, what is it? You don´t know Polish books are forbidden?" He hits me for several times. I am starting crying and I can feel my blood flows down in my face. "Stand up, you are going with me to gestapo office," he shouts. There lives a boy called Janek in this street. He runs immediately to my mum and tells her everything. My mum is running to the gestapo office to save me. Fortunatelly she can speak German fluently. "I have sent Alina to your office with all these books because we have found them and we were worried to keep them", explains my mum. SSman doesn´t believe my mum and he is looking for a signature of me in my books. He can´t find any. After two hours of explaining, crying and asking him he agrees with my release. I am free again!!! My mum asked me several times to sign my students book. I was lazy, thanks to Good.
